How to better tie the efforts of DoD and the rest of USG with PD?

Vote 0 Votes
As "directors" of 'instrument of national power' the commanders and staffs in DoD need to understand information and persuasion. While there are many initiatives between PD and DoD, they do not seem to be getting socialized as well as one would like. There seem to be untold missed opportunities. Extending understanding and coordination of PD across agencies would potentially make our efforts more broadly understood/appreciated. I wonder what can be done?

  • I can't help but point out the VERY pertinent speech given by HHS Secretary Leavitt for the CSIS speakers series (URL: http://www.globalhealth.gov/news/news/121208b.html) where he describes the need for better branding between agencies in relation to health/humanitarian efforts conducted on behalf of the American people. This is what needs to be addressed--not just in terms of logos on a label (Sec'y Leavitt makes the point that often there are six diff. US agency logos on US humanitarian donations), but in terms of PD and Public Affairs efforts. How can we better integrate efforts across agencies at a lower "staff" level? How can we 'socialize' awareness?
